Function

  • Support the team, by acting as subject matter expert on European and Belgian-compliance obligations applicable to insurance intermediaries and insurers
  • Manage compliance projects across the Belgian-based companies (a life insurer, a non-life insurer and an insurance intermediary) and their branches, with particular focus on implementing European and Belgian prudential and conduct risk obligations.
  • Support, advise and coach junior team members to develop their skills and knowledge and assist with delivery of other appropriate training needs
  • Support the delivery of the annual compliance strategy and plan
  • Maintain general knowledge of the regulatory requirements and developments affecting the business across Europe and advise internal stakeholders as appropriate
  • Report on Compliance activities
  • Propose and drive enhancements to compliance processes to ensure the compliance framework remains relevant for the current business structure and is aligned to best practice
  • Adapt and maintain the framework of compliance policies and procedures to support business practices, promote ethical standards and ensure regulatory and legal compliance
  • Assist in the implementation of relevant compliance risk processes, procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with Solvency II
  • Actively promote and embed a positive compliance culture throughout the business and promote the capabilities of the compliance team to provide high quality, cost effective and focused advice and support in respect of business initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that service delivery meets the business’ expectations
  • Liaise with other business and independent internal control functions to ensure a coordinated approach

Profile

  • Master’s degree in law from a Belgian university or equivalent knowledge of the Belgian legal and compliance framework for insurance activities
  • Strategic thinker, able to recommend solutions that balance business and risk perspectives
  • Business fluent in written and spoken English, fluent in French or Dutch as native speaker
  • Able to make efficient use of MS Office 365 applications
  • Able to perform basic data analyses using appropriate tools or willingness to acquire such skills within a reasonable amount of time.
