Function

The Legal and Compliance Team is a dynamic and internationally diverse team. It provides high quality advice to top management and the various business divisions of TME, as well as to its manufacturing and sales affiliates in Europe. The team advises on a broad range of matters, including product liability, corporate law, privacy, IP (Intellectual Property) and IT law, brand protection, competition law, contract law, environmental law and regulatory matters.

We are looking for a (Senior) Legal Counsel to support the following Divisions:

  • Purchasing, which is responsible for the procurement of raw materials and production parts for Toyota’s European manufacturing operations (TME has 8 manufacturing plants in 6 European countries). You will be the legal business partner for the Purchasing Division and provide legal support on a wide range of matters, which include advise on investment projects, suppliers selection and due diligence, negotiations, drafting of agreements and regulatory compliance, such as CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) or CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive).
  • Lexus, which is responsible for Toyota’s luxury and leading technology brand. You will work closely with the business, be part of negotiation teams and interact with suppliers, business partners and other third parties. The legal work touches upon a broad range of areas and, on top of negotiations and contract work, you will give regular trainings and monitor compliance.

Finally, you will support various projects and business development activities together with the other members of the Legal and Compliance Team. You will report to a Manager of the Legal and Compliance Division.

Profile

  • You are fluent in English.
  • You have a Master’s degree in Belgian or similar law (for example German, French, Spanish) and 5 to 7 years of experience in an international law firm or as an in-house counsel in an international environment.
  • You have excellent analytical, contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • You are solution oriented and have good business acumen.
  • You are a team player and easily build good relationships with people across the organization.
  • You have the ability to comfortably operate in a consensus based work environment and you grasp and integrate multiple stakeholder interests.
  • You are comfortable functioning in an international environment with colleagues from various backgrounds and regions.
  • You are curious and interested in the business and operations of the sector.
