Function

As KBC Group Data Protection Coordinator, you will play a vital role within an organisation with an explicit digital strategy.

 

Your core task will be managing the risks associated with privacy and data protection at

Group level. This will be a coordinating and connecting role in which you bridge the gap

between the various colleagues within KBC Group who are responsible for data protection.

 

You will work together with local Data Protection Officers and Compliance Teams in the various KBC entities. You will visit colleagues in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria at least twice a year.

 

  • You will manage the local Data Protection Officers at a functional level so you can report on the extent to which data protection is being implemented throughout the Group and so you can ensure a uniform approach.
  • You will advise the local Data Protection Officers in key strategic business projects in which data protection comes into play.
  • You will ensure appropriate group-wide reporting regarding data protection risks.
  • Based on your expertise, you will advise and coach the local Data Protection Officers and local Chief Compliance Officers. For example, you will support the local Data Protection Officers when the local data protection authority makes enquiries and in the event of customer complaints regarding data protection.
  • You will share your knowledge with colleagues, give data protection training and increase their awareness regarding related risks.

Profile

  • You have a university degree, and at least 10 years relevant experience in a bank, in consultancy or a Law firm.
  • Your experience includes:
    – managing / coordinating the functional aspects of an international team
    – project management
    – contact with regulators for consultations and enquiries.
  • You are an expert, with specialised knowledge of European and Belgian legislation and practice regarding data protection. AI related knowledge is an asset. You assimilate knowledge quickly, in particular concerning directives, best practices and specific aspects of local privacy and data protection regulations
  • You communicate expertly in English – you are clear, you empathise and you connect people. You easily make new contacts and you enjoy negotiating to reach a win-win.
