As Legal Counsel you will help negotiate, review and draft contracts with clients (coming from all parts of the world and including pension funds, asset managers, private wealth managers, private investors, banks and insurance companies, family trusts, public entities, sovereign wealth funds and not-for-profit entities) and suppliers, including keeping up to date template contracts.
In team work with the partners and other team members, you will help analyse new potential cases and provide legal support to pending cases. You will follow up on procedural matters in pending litigation projects, provide legal support to the coordination of legal procedures and settlement transaction negotiations and help to solve specific legal issues related to corporate and financial law matters, liability and procedural issues. You will also liaise with local counsel in the country of establishment of the client and the country where litigation is taking place.
You will be responsible for the review of settlement agreements and you will assist with the execution of those settlement agreements.
You will be based in Brussels but exceptionally travelling abroad whenever needed.
You are a Master in Law with a focus on corporate (and/or contract law) and preferably litigation related to those fields of the law. Experience with financial markets law is a plus.
You have 3 to 7 years of relevant ‘on-the-job' experience in the above-mentioned areas, gained as a lawyer (preferably in corporate law) or at the legal department of a financial institution.
Preferably, you have had exposure to the US and Anglo-Saxon markets.
You are fluent in English, Dutch and French.
